Dominic Murphy Artist Research

Dominic Murphy is a British artist who works in a very gruesome and dark art way. Lots of his work is based around Alice in wonderland. I like how he uses a lot of colour but in a monotone kind of sense, making the piece look more gruesome and horrible. All his artwork is very realistic which works well in his favour as it adds more of a weird and creepy aspect to the work. It has inspired me to use colour but in a neutral and with a low saturation through out the book.

Brandalism Research

Brandalism is when you are going against marketing/consumer brands or company's by re designing posters/ads with a strong message to stop consumers. The images on the Ad have a strong message to link with consumers as well as global warming troubles. The Ad that catches my attention most is "photo of a skinny white girl", this is fighting against body/racial image in ads as most women are white and skinny, this is against the body image. This has inspired me to try and show an on going problem using images related to it but in a hypocritical way.

Unjust police killing black people in America

In recent events we have been seeing more and more news reports on police officers in America killing men without the right to a public and fair trial. Here are some facts I found; • Police killed at least 102 unarmed black people in 2015, nearly twice each week. (See which police departments were responsible for these deaths) •     Nearly 1 in 3 black people killed by police in 2015 were identified as unarmed, though the actual number is likely higher due to under reporting •     37% of unarmed people killed by police were black in 2015 despite black people being only 13% of the U.S. population •     Unarmed black people were killed at 5x the rate of unarmed whites in 2015 •     Only 10 of the 102 cases in 2015 where an unarmed black person was killed by police resulted in officer(s ) being charged with a crime, and only 2 of these deaths (Matthew Ajibade and Eric Harris) resulted in convictions of officers inv...
